Cousin Lorna’s Chocolate Chip Cookies

We called our grandma, Grandma Cookie. Each of my siblings believe that, in fact, they were the first to give her that moniker. I am the youngest out of the bunch and I even remember thinking that I was the one to dub her Grandma Cookie, but seeing as I was the last one to come along it most likely wasn’t me.

Grandma Cookie

Based on her nickname you can already guess that she made the best cookies. My favorites were her chocolate chip cookies! They were packed full of walnuts, oatmeal and chocolate chips. They were pleasingly crisp when you first bit into them and then so soft and chewy. My mouth is watering just thinking about them.

When I was an adult I asked my mom about grandma’s chocolate chip cookies and it turns out that my whole life had been a lie! The recipe was not our grandma’s, but in fact, was our cousin Lorna’s. Lorna was married to my 1st double cousin once removed. Long story, I’ll have to tell you all about our double cousins in another blog post. She was an amazing baker and her chocolate chip cookies are the best. I’d like to share the recipe with you.
